YWCA Saskatoon’s Employment and Learning Centre hosts a monthly Job Finding Club for job seekers from Saskatoon and area. Our Job Finding Club assists and supports job seekers to find work within the hidden job market. Within a group setting, job seekers will learn job search strategies, gain confidence and stay motivated in their job search.
The Job Finding Club employs group job hunting techniques for job–ready clients. The activities of the Job Finding Club are directive and adhere to a standardized process. The activities and procedures are designed to achieve the single, overriding objective of the Job Finding Club: to help the job seeker find a job of the highest feasible quality within the shortest feasible time.
Job Seekers who are selected to participate in the Monthly Job Finding Club (after a Mandatory Information Pre-Session) should expect to meet with an Employment Counsellor/Facilitator prior to the Job Finding Club, to develop Job Searching Documents (cover letter, resume etc.). In addition, job seekers should expect to attend the Job Finding Club every morning (Monday to Friday), with home and community work in the afternoons. Subjects that will be covered in our Job Finding Club include: Personal Branding, Skills Triangle, Elevator Speech, Social Media, Video Taped Job Interview, the Hidden Job Market and developing a Post Job Finding Club Action Plan.
To help determine if the Job Finding Club is right for you, ask the following questions:
- Am I available to attend sessions every morning?
- Do I have a focused job goal?
- Am I committed to finding work?
- Am I ready to start work right away?
If the answer is yes to these questions, the Job Finding Club may be right for you. To register for the next Mandatory Information Pre-Session, contact YWCA Saskatoon, Reception at (306) 986-2873. For more information, on our Job Finding Club, contact a Facilitator at (306) 986-2876.
