The History of the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards®
The YWCA Women of Distinction Awards® are recognized nationally as one of the most prestigious awards for women. Across Canada, YWCA member agencies celebrate the Women of Distinction Awards® every year.
Since 1982, Saskatoon’s YWCA Women of Distinction Awards have celebrated the best in women’s achievements in our local community, across industry, culture and public service. Hundreds of women of all ages and from all walks of life have been honoured by our community for their initiative, ability and exemplary contributions to society.
Past recipients of the Women of Distinction Awards have been inspirational women with accomplished careers who made important contributions to the life of our community—community leaders, humanitarians, athletes—women in all sectors. We have recognized women like Marion Graham, Sylvia Fedoruk, Frances Morrison, Ruth Horlick, Betty Anne Heggie, Ellen Remai, Moira Birney, and Beth Bilson, to name a few.
