Computer Basics
The below classes run Fridays from 9:30 – 12:00 PM at $100 per class (2.5 hours of instruction).
Participants can take all classes or choose their preference. Classes can also be taken more than once.
Intro to Computers
This class aims to provide students with the basic skills needed to navigate computers with confidence. It is ideal for students who have either not used a computer before or would benefit from hands-on guidance while practicing basic gestures such as clicking and typing. This class will help participants:
- Identify different types of computers and their uses
- Navigate a Windows desktop
- Practice using a mouse and keyboard
- Learn how to organize files such as documents and photos
- Learn how to store and access files on a memory stick
Using the Internet
This class aims to de-mystify the Internet by introducing students to web browsers and how they can be used to find resources online. It is ideal for students who either have not used the Internet before or would like hands-on guidance while familiarizing themselves with it. This class will help participants:
- Use a search engine to find information on the Internet
- Bookmark favourite websites
- Search and clear history
- Download files from the Internet
Communicating Online
This class aims to provide students with hands-on practice using email and Zoom to communicate with others online. This class is ideal for students who wish to safely practice using these forms of communication in a controlled environment. This class will help participants:
- Navigate an email inbox
- Write and reply to emails
- Receive and send attachments
- Participate in Zoom calls
