Saskatoon, SK- With little more than a day to go and last minute preparations being finalized, the 27th Annual Women of Distinction Awards Dinner is sold out and on it’s way to becoming YWCA Saskatoon’s biggest fundraising event of all time!
“Our community is extremely generous,” exclaims Dianne Leontowicz, Chair of the Fundraising Committee for the Awards Dinner. “We’ve received tremendous support from our sponsors and partners for this years dinner, more than $8,300 worth of prizes will be raffled, our 4 gift baskets are worth in excess of $1,200 each and our grand prize in the balloon pop raffle- a trip for 2 anywhere WestJet flies in Canada is valued at $2,300!”
But the Dinner is about more than just raising money explains Barb MacPherson, Executive Director at the Y, ”Funds raised at the dinner will allow YWCA Saskatoon to continue providing services and programs to more than 6000 women and their families in our community. Through our Crisis Shelter, Employment & Learning services, Child Development Centre and Fitness on 25th, we see a definite positive impact on the social fabric of our community- it’s all about helping people, and it always will be.”
The Dinner will kick off with a Champagne Reception at 5:30pm in the Grand Salon at TCU Place on Thursday, June 5th, followed shortly by the arrival of the Award Nominees, with dinner at 6:30 and the Awards ceremony at 7:45.
There will be in excess of 650 people in attendance at this years awards, making it the largest event ever for the YWCA. If you have not received your ticket- no need to worry, a new ticketless system is being tested. Just bring your ID and a smile and ushers will be sure you have a good time!
