Nutrition Monday: Meal Prepping for Beginners

Meal Prepping for Beginners
By: Breeanna Tudda; Head Lifeguard

Meal prepping is key when wanting to drop a few unwanted pounds. Weight loss is typically 70% what you put into your body and 30% is the exercise you perform. Meal prepping can seem intimidating to a beginner who is entering the fitness world but it doesn’t have to be that way! Follow these simple tips and tricks and you should be well on your way to meal plan like a pro.

Write out a list of healthy meals you enjoy and organize them by righting down what you want to eat for the week. For example:

Day 1

Breakfast:

  • Grape fruit with Greek yogurt & almond slices on top

Snack #1:

  • Protein bar

Lunch:

  • Turkey burger with avocado slice
  • Baked homemade sweet potato fries

Supper:

  • Mexican Quinoa salad

Evening Snack:

  • Granny smith apple with peanut butter

Creating the meals

Buy groceries for the week and prep the food Sunday evening. If you do not have a lot of time on Sunday then using a crock pot to cook your meat for a couple hours and it will cut your time in half. If you don’t already have Tupperware containers then purchase a couple to add ingredients for each meal into OR if you know you have a busy week then you can buy meal prep containers online.
